After spending a month testing the new Narwal Flow 2 Robot Vacuum and Mop ahead of its April 13 release, I can confidently say this is one of the most impressive robot cleaners I’ve used. I’ve tested quite a few robot vacuums over the years—including Narwal’s previous flagship, the Narwal Freo Z10 Ultra—and the Flow 2 feels like a clear step forward in both design and performance.
I tested the Flow 2 in my home in Florida, running it almost daily on the entire first floor, which includes a carpeted bedroom, tiled floors everywhere else, a kitchen, and the high-traffic area near our patio door where my dog tracks in muddy paw prints. The setup was refreshingly simple. After pairing it with the Narwal app, it was ready to start mapping the floor in about 15 minutes. A full vacuum-and-mop session of the entire floor (400 square feet) takes roughly 50 minutes, which has become my go-to daily routine while I’m working.

A Much Sleeker Design
The first thing I noticed was the design. Compared with Narwal’s previous models, the base station looks dramatically more refined. The unit has a sleek, modern appearance with subtle ambient lighting, so it actually looks good sitting out in the room rather than hidden in a corner. With the Freo Z10 Ultra, I always kept the base tucked away because it felt a bit plastic and bulky. This one feels like something you wouldn’t mind having visible.
Narwal also kept one of my favorite features: the top-loaded clean and dirty water tanks. They lift straight out, making them extremely easy to refill or empty. I typically get about two full cleaning cycles from a tank of clean water before needing to refill it.
The New Roller Mop Is a Big Upgrade
The biggest change is the new treadmill-style roller mop. Instead of the dual spinning mop pads used on earlier Narwal models, this version uses a rolling track mop that constantly refreshes as it cleans.
In practice, it works extremely well. My dog regularly leaves muddy paw prints near the patio door, and the Flow 2 removes them without leaving any streaks or haze on the floor. It also uses hot water—up to about 140 degrees—which helps break down grease and stubborn spots around the kitchen after a heavy cooking session.
The dirty water tank can get pretty grimy after multiple runs, but that’s honestly the case with most mop robots. The upside is that the tanks last longer between refills, which means less maintenance overall.
Smart Navigation and Surprisingly Good Camera Features
Navigation is another standout feature. This robot is fast, responsive, and excellent at detecting obstacles. During my month of testing, it consistently avoided dog toys, shoes, cables, and other clutter without hesitation. In fact, it’s the first robot vacuum I’ve used that hasn’t gotten stuck somewhere in the house—a surprisingly rare achievement for this category. Other robots either get stuck in a tighter spot, or choke on a cable. The Flow 2 is much smarter than the rest.
One feature I didn’t expect to love as much as I do is how the robot updates the home map in real time. Each time it cleans, it scans the floor and adds newly detected obstacles directly onto the map in the app. Even better, it actually takes a photo of the object and attaches it to the map. Tap the icon, and the image pops up so you can quickly see exactly what the robot detected.
The system uses AI to identify objects, and it’s impressively accurate. During testing it correctly labeled items like shoes, charging cables, trash bags, bits of fabric, and my dog’s toys. I love that the map stays constantly updated as things move around the house day to day—it feels much more dynamic than the static maps most robot vacuums create.
The onboard camera is also genuinely useful. From the app, I can instantly pull up a live video feed and even manually drive the robot around the house if needed. There’s also a “pet find” mode that scans rooms to locate pets, which is a fun bonus. Camera features on robot vacuums are often laggy, but this one is surprisingly responsive—fast enough that I’d actually use it to check in on my dog while away.
After a month of testing, the Flow 2 feels like one of the smartest and most capable robot vacuum-mop combos I’ve used. It’s quick, hands-off, and consistently leaves my floors spotless, which is exactly what I want from a premium cleaning robot.
