As the primary cleaner in a busy household, I’m no stranger to vacuuming. In fact, I reach for a vacuum at least twice a day to keep on top of the dirt, debris, and crumbs that inevitably end up on my floors. As part of the Bob Vila Product Reviews team, I’ve also had the unique opportunity to test a number of the best stick vacuums from top brands. And while there are many I like and recommend, the Tineco Pure One S70 has become a new favorite for keeping my floors tidy.

Testing the Tineco Pure One S70

I tested the Tineco Pure One S70 along with four other stick vacuums over the course of a month. My initial tests compared each of these vacuums’ ability to pick up small particles like dust and spilled flour, as well as larger debris such as spilled candies (mini M&Ms) and the bits of leaves and mud that are regularly tracked into my home. My house features older, slightly uneven hardwood floors with small gaps between the planks, providing the perfect environment to assess a vacuum’s suction power. I also evaluated battery life and recharge time, tested maneuverability by vacuuming around obstacles like cabinets and toilets, and used all the attachments multiple times. As I tested this vacuum, I kept results in a standardized rubric survey, awarding the Tineco a score from 1 to 5 based on performance, maneuverability, ease of use, and value.

Cleaning Performance and Ease of Use

The Tineco passed all of my cleaning tests with flying colors. It features the brand’s 3D Sense Pro Cleaning System, which detects the level of dust on a floor and automatically adjusts suction accordingly. The suction was top-notch, even pulling dust and small debris out of the cracks in my hardwood floors, which many vacuums fail to do. It also has EdgeSense technology that detects when a user is vacuuming near an edge and boosts suction for enhanced cleaning, leaving the areas beside baseboards and appliances dirt-free.  

The Tineco isn’t just for hard floors; it’s suitable for all floor types, including carpet. Its vacuum head features V-shaped bristles for carpet and black bristles for hard floors, making it a versatile choice for homes with multiple flooring types. I vacuumed my area rugs with it and have no complaints. Another feature that really made this model enjoyable to use was the green headlight, which highlights small pieces of dirt and hair that I might otherwise have missed. And cleaning under furniture? A breeze, thanks to the flexible vacuum tube that can bend 180 degrees, allowing it to fit under beds and tables. 

The Tineco has a 0.6-liter dustbin, which I usually needed to empty after a whole-house vacuum session, but wasn’t so small that I had to stop mid-vacuum to dump it. The dustbin features a push-button release, so hands stay clean when emptying.

Attachments and Storage

Four attachments come with this Tineco vacuum, including a lint sweeper and a hose that can attach to the lint sweeper for extra reach, a 2-in-1 dusting brush and crevice tool, and a mini power brush. These attachments can easily convert the Tineco into a handheld vac. I used the mini power brush and lint sweeper to give my mattresses and living room furniture a once-over, and found the crevice tool with dust brush to be an excellent cleaning tool for suctioning dust off of ceiling fan blades. 

The Tineco Pure One S70 also includes a vertical storage stand with a built-in charger. I found this extremely convenient, as I didn’t have to wall-mount a docking station or hunt down a charger. Instead, I plugged the vertical storage stand into an electrical outlet and then docked my vacuum whenever I was finished cleaning, where it automatically recharged. Plus, the stand had storage for all included attachments, so I didn’t have to worry about them getting misplaced. 

Battery Life and Charge Time

Any cordless vacuum can be pretty useless if its battery doesn’t last long enough to complete the task at hand. Fortunately, I’ve had no issues with the Tineco Pure One S70. It’s advertised to run up to 95 minutes with the crevice tool on Eco mode or up to 65 minutes with the regular vacuum head on Eco mode. I’ve used the vacuum mostly in Auto mode, which draws more power. Even in Auto mode, it lasted long enough for me to vacuum my entire 2,000-plus square-foot home, with battery left to spare. (This usually takes me about 25 minutes or so.)

Recharging the Tineco can take 3 to 4 hours, depending on how depleted the battery is. Since I place the vacuum back on its storage stand, which automatically recharges it, it’s always ready to go when I need to clean up a quick mess or deep clean my house. 

Is the Tineco Pure One S70 Worth the Money?

At $569.00, the Tineco Pure One S70 is a mid to higher-priced vacuum, but I think it’s well worth the cost. It comes with all the features you would expect from a high-end vacuum, such as a green headlight that illuminates an unbelievable amount of dust you’d otherwise miss, strong suction, a decently long battery life, and a vertical storage stand. Many of the vacuums I’ve tested in this price range come with a wall-mount docking station, which I’m not a huge fan of. The Tineco Pure One S70’s vertical storage stand is top-tier. It automatically recharges the vacuum’s battery while providing storage for all attachments, keeping everything neat, tidy, and ready to use at a moment’s notice. 

Since this vacuum is bagless, the only ongoing maintenance cost is replacing the HEPA filter. Tineco recommends washing the filter every 6 months and replacing it every 24 months. I’ve noticed that the Amazon listing occasionally offers coupons of up to $100 off this vacuum, so it’s worth checking that out before making a purchase.

Product Comparisons

Not every user values the same features in a stick vacuum, so in some cases, a competing vacuum may be a better fit. The Dyson V15 Detect boasts many of the same features I love about the Tineco, including an LED headlight to illuminate hidden dust and sensors that detect dust levels and adjust suction accordingly, although it’s priced higher than the Tineco and doesn’t come with a vertical storage stand. The Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Lite was another of my favorites. It includes a vertical storage stand that automatically empties the dustbin and recharges itself every time it’s docked. The biggest drawback was a lack of a headlight, which I’ve come to expect from higher-end vacuums.

For those looking to spend a little less, the Levoit L-VAC 200 boasts powerful suction and works on all floor types. The quality feels a bit lacking compared to the others in this lineup; however, it’s still a solid option for those looking for an affordable, lightweight vacuum. Finally, the Shark PowerDetect falls in the middle price range and offers some nifty features like a bendable tube for cleaning under furniture, dirt-detecting technology that automatically adjusts suction levels, and the ability to pick up debris in forward and reverse. However, it doesn’t come with a stand and can’t stand freely on its own, so you have to prop it up against a wall when not in use.

So, is the Tineco Pure One S70 right for you?

If you’re after a stick vacuum that maneuvers like a dream and works on all floor types, it’s hard to go wrong with the Tineco Pure One S70. Thanks to standout features like its green headlight, edge-cleaning capabilities, and top-notch suction, it’s enjoyable to use. The biggest drawbacks are the lack of suction settings (only Auto and Eco, so you can’t manually boost suction when needed) and the fact that it’s cordless. Those with large homes may fare better with upright vacuum cleaners. Since they’re tethered to a power cord, they’re a bit less convenient for quick cleaning, but users don’t have to worry about battery life. 

If you’re looking for a mid- to high-end stick vacuum, the Tineco is an excellent contender that I highly recommend. However, if the price is a concern or you mainly use an upright or canister vacuum and only want a stick vacuum for spot cleaning, a less expensive model might be a better fit.
