concerning the walls, i surely cant help you there but with the cabinets thats my advise.

my suggestions would be to strip all those layers of old paint..sand it down..bleach the wood..complete it wiht your desired stain..this is the cheapest way to go...
Doug..if the seams are loose, most common sense thing to do is peel it off, he doesnt necessarily have to steam the entire wallpaper off in order to texture paint...
check your local hardware store like home depot or loews, they have products there located at the paint departement section, that repairs cracks in plaster walls...
I just finished a room in my house that I just recently bought, that had the same problem as you did, in one of my other rooms, they had painted over the wallpap...
How hard is it to repair mud walls? if it is crack, is it better to leave it alone?
now, if its a mud wall that i have, does it make a difference? i thought it was steel plate, i was wrong..the walls look like concrete material but its not.
what if i just tore the entire wall paper and leave the undelayment of the drywall, and prime that, and just texture paint the wall, would that work?
