Hello everyone,
I am looking at a 4 year-old home for sale. My home inpsector noted that there was Aquapex plastic water lines in the attic. He says that is a no go. They could freeze and burst, damaging the home and contents.
The builder stands by the installation, saying "nothing has happened yet".
A home improvement plumbing manager told me that this setup may even be against code, and it was asking for trouble sooner than later. The house is in snow country, with cold winters.
Any ideas? Input?

Even though the aquapex will not break from freezing, (according to Wirsbo), it's not a very smart place to put water piping. Most codes in cold weather areas require water piping to be protected from freezing by being installed on inside walls and in front of insulation, so its protected by the heat. In addition, its not gonna be very nice when you want to take that nice shower, and the pipes won't allow the water to flow into the bathroom, because there is a blockage. You might get kinda smelly going the whole winter without a shower.
