It’s Amazon Prime Day! We’ve compiled a list of the latest smart home deals —and we’ll be updating this list regularly.
Although it’s usually scheduled for beginning to mid-July and was bumped in 2020 to mid-October, Amazon’s Prime Day is finally here on June 21 and 22, 2021.
Smart products are one of the biggest product categories on deep discount during the Prime Day sales, especially those that integrate with Amazon’s Alexa home assistant. Luckily, Alexa is neck-and-neck with Google Assistant for popularity, so the vast majority of smart-home products work with both—which means they’re on sale and that there are some great Amazon Prime Day smart home deals to be had.
We’re seeing bigger sales than usual this year because of the oddities in shipping and stocking over the past year. Pandemic purchasing meant more consumers were purchasing necessities online, leaving high stocks of non-imperative items high. The warehouses need to be cleared out prior to the next sale season, so we can anticipate deeper discounts than normal.
Amazon Prime Day Smart Home deals can mean significant discounts, but also time limits and steep competition. That said, there are ways to find additional discounts before and during the sale period. First, always check the Amazon page to see if there’s a checkbox for an additional Amazon coupon. These can save you a few cents or a lot of dollars. You can check these ahead of time by heading to the Amazon Coupons landing page, where you can search for coupons in different categories and comparison shop.
The next option is to consider applying for an Amazon Rewards Visa Card or an Amazon Prime Rewards Visa card; signing up for either will get you a $50 to $100 Amazon gift card, a percentage back of every dollar you spend, and access to certain cardholder-only deals and sales. Neither card carries an annual fee.
Other websites can help you check to see if you’re getting the best deal. The Honey browser extension will search the internet for your item prior to checkout and show you additional coupons you might apply and compare prices, and it will run possible discount codes through before you pay. CamelCamelCamel is a website that tracks the prices of individual items on Amazon over time, so you can put in the URL of your item and see how much it has sold for over the past year.

Do I Need Amazon Prime to Get Prime Day 2021 Deals?
Amazon Prime Day was initially launched to celebrate Amazon’s 20th anniversary, and it was so popular and drove so much business that it became an annual event. Amazon wants you to become a Prime member, so in order to see and access Prime Day deals, you have to subscribe. However, Amazon offers a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime with no penalty for canceling as long as you cancel prior to the end of the trial. If you’re hooked on Prime by the end of the trial, there are several options where you might be able to save on membership: College students and those with EBT cards or government assistance can access lower rates and longer trials, so if that applies to you, you’ll be able to save even more.

NOW $99.99. The Amazon Echo is a regular on the Prime Day sale list because Amazon’s own devices are usually close to the top of the list of discounted products. The 4th generation Echo has upgraded sound and sensitivity so it’s even more useful, upgraded connectivity with Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, and others. It also includes an intercom feature that lets you “drop in” to other rooms in your home to call your family to dinner—but also has a button that turns off all the microphones with a single touch when you want privacy. Compatible with many other devices, the Echo can serve as the hub for a truly integrated smart home.

This upgraded Ring Doorbell includes 1080p HD video so you can clearly see, record, and converse with anyone standing in range. Also improved are the Wi-Fi connectivity and motion detection. This Ring is compatible with Alexa devices and is managed from the RIng smartphone app, and it includes everything you need to set up and mount the camera right in the box so you can begin monitoring (or replace an older doorbell camera) right away.
NOW $229.99. If you’ve been considering installing a home security system, this SimpliSafe set is a great place to begin. The DIY installation is easy: Plug in the base, place your sensors, and connect to your Wi-Fi and cellular service. The set includes a panic button that will immediately sound an alarm or send a silent call for help from anywhere in your home. You can choose to monitor the system yourself with the smartphone app—so this system can be a one-and-done purchase—or subscribe to SimpliSafe’s 24-hour monitoring service starting at 50 cents a day, with no contract, so you can try it out and cancel if you decide to go back to self-monitoring. Flexible and effective, the system works with Alexa and Google Assistant as well.
NOW $279.99 (was $379.99). Is the baby asleep? Most parents know the trepidation of easing open a door and army-crawling across the floor to check on a (hopefully) sleeping child without being detected if the child is not, in fact, asleep. The Nanit Pro Complete Baby Monitoring System makes that army crawl a thing of the past. Including a camera, breathing monitor, and smart sheet, the Nanit allows parents to see, hear, and speak to their baby to soothe the child back to sleep. The components can be used together for a complete system or separately as your baby grows older, and you can monitor everything from the connected smartphone app. And if you’re lucky enough to have a baby that sleeps, the Nanit will give you your baby’s sleep stats each morning so you can brag to your exhausted parent friends that your baby really did sleep for 6 hours in a row.
NOW $167. What does your dog do all day when you’re not home? Maybe your “no dogs on the couch” rule isn’t as hard and fast as you think it is. But even dogs that enjoy being home alone like a little reassurance every now and then. The Furbo Dog Camera allows you to check on your pet day or night from your smartphone. You can talk to your pet through the integrated speaker and even dispense a treat, so your pet gets a snack and some attention. In addition, a bark sensor will alert you through the app if your dog is barking (the sensitivity is adjustable so you won’t be constantly notified if your dog is barky) so you’ll know if the dog is distressed or there’s a problem. Easy to set up and connect, the Furbo is a great way to monitor and interact with pets when you’re away for the day.
NOW $199 (was $207.99). Stop arguing over the thermostat—the Google Nest Programmable Thermostat lets you decide on the temperature you want throughout the day, set it, and walk away. If you find yourself edging the temperature up or down during the day, the Nest Thermostat will learn your patterns and adjust the programmed plan for you to help you save energy by automatically choosing an Eco Temperature to maintain after you leave the house. And if someone in your family perpetually adjusts the temperature after you, you can monitor that on your phone, too! This thermostat also monitors your HVAC system and lets you know if there might be a problem that needs your attention, helps monitor your energy use, and can pair with Nest Temperature Sensors and Alexa devices. Far from being an eyesore on your wall, it’s available in seven finishes so it’s an attractive complement instead.
NOW $469. Tired of the constant hum and vibration from your heavy window air conditioner? Even more tired of the energy bill that follows it? The Midea Inverter Air Conditioner uses a different kind of technology and takes a different shape. The unit has a unique U shape in which the window slides nearly all the way down between the noisy compressor and the fan unit, so most of the noise is blocked from your room. This also allows you to open the window even when the unit is in place so you can let fresh air in when it’s nice out. This unit is quiet, sleek, and the winner of the Energy Star 2020 Most Efficient award, and its inverter technology can save up to 35 percent off traditional energy costs.
NOW $799 (was $999.99). This smart tool will save you from lugging your heavy vacuum around the house for hours. iRobot’s smart vacuums are another item that frequently goes on sale during Prime Days, and those savings have already begun. This model can be programmed to regularly vacuum your hard floors and rugs before returning to its base—which will automatically empty itself into the base and be ready to vacuum again. This iRobot will learn the layout of your home and methodically cover all areas, but it also integrates with your smart home assistants so you can request immediate cleanup when there’s a spill. This improved version doesn’t clog, doesn’t get tangled with pet hair, and removes 99 percent of pet dander from the air.
NOW $1,199.99. This wood-pellet combined grill and smoker is a solid piece of barbecue equipment: It can smoke, braise, bake, and roast on easy-clean porcelain grates. Heavy-duty double-wall construction keeps the heat inside even during cold weather, so it’s a year-round tool. But this grill isn’t just a grill—WiFIRE technology connects the grill to home Wi-Fi and the Traeger app so users can control the temperature, venting, and settings, and the included digital probes mean you can set the internal temperature to which you want your meat cooked and walk away. The app will let you know when it’s done. If the app is more effort than you want to put in, you’ll be happy to know that the grill is compatible with Alexa, so you can ask your device to change the grill settings and Alexa will take care of it for you. Taking the stress out of keeping an eye on meat that needs to smoke for hours, this grill integrates with the rest of your smart home for simple control and delicious dinners.
NOW $174.76 (was $229.99). If you have a traditional sprinkler system with set-and-forget programs, you’re probably a victim of overwatered grass and under-watered flowers—or you’re that neighbor with the sprinklers running in the rain because you can’t interrupt the pattern. The Rachio 3 replaces most standard sprinkler system controls, allowing you to use an app to decide which sprinklers should run how often. The sensor knows when it’s raining, when it’s frozen, and when your yard is saturated and adjusts accordingly so you don’t need to guess. And this device works with Alexa, Google Assistant, Nest, and other systems, so once connected you can just ask the assistant to water the pansies and expect it to happen.
