Bob meets with a project manager for the restoration of the U.S.S. Constitution, “Old Ironsides”, dry-docked in Boston Harbor. They review the 21-inch-thick hull walls, the timbers in the keel, and the copper plating on the outside of the hull.
Bob reviews the construction layout of the first floor. The old kitchen has been ripped out to make way for a foyer, coat closet, and staircase. In the garage, a steel beam, or girt, has been placed in order to support the weight of the second floor.
Demolition continues on the roof, as the crew removes the sheathing, rafters, and some of the ceiling joists.
