I Was Skeptical the Dreame Aero Pro Was Worth $450—A Month of Testing Changed My Mind

At $450, the Dreame Aero Pro Wet Dry Vacuum is more expensive than some other wet/dry vacs. That’s the first thing we need to acknowledge. You can buy a perfectly functional wet/dry combo for half the cost. But after using this model daily for a full month in my Florida home, I can see how someone looking for a smart, efficient hard-floor cleaner would find the price justified.

Testing

I tested the Aero Pro on roughly 800 square feet of tile every single day—primarily the ground floor of my home, plus an upstairs bathroom. With a long-haired Australian shepherd tracking in muddy paw prints daily (and more than a few dinner parties resulting in red wine, beer, and curry sauce spills), this vacuum had plenty to prove. For this test, I retired my usual robot vacuum and steam mop entirely to see if the Dreame could handle everything on its own. It did.

Self-Cleaning System

The standout feature is the self-cleaning system. If you’ve used other wet/dry vacuums, you know the problem: the roller starts to smell. Cleaning and drying it thoroughly after every use is tedious, and if you skip it, you regret it. The Dreame solves this. After each cleaning session, I placed it on its charging dock and ran the self-clean cycle. It performs a hot wash of the roller and then dries it completely. After a month of daily use, there were zero odors, and the roller was dry to the touch. That alone makes this feel like a premium machine.

Performance

Performance-wise, it impressed me across the board. The roller spans edge-to-edge and sits right at the front of the head, so it reaches into corners without extra maneuvering. It leaves a faint wet trail that dries almost instantly—no streaks once dry. The included cleaning solution smells fresh but subtle. Even on Turbo mode, it’s quieter than a standard vacuum, and Smart mode handled most of my cleaning without needing adjustment.

Water Tanks

There are trade-offs. The 1000 milliliter (ml) clean water tank and 600ml dirty tank are on the smaller side. Cleaning my entire tiled area required at least one refill and multiple emptying of dirty tanks. The dirty water gets nasty—thick with dog hair and brown runoff—but emptying it is smooth and intuitive. Still, I wouldn’t recommend this for a massive home with wall-to-wall hard flooring. The refill cycle would get old quickly.

Battery Life

Battery life lived up to its claims. I never ran it dry, even during longer sessions, and charging from empty took about four hours. It feels almost self-propelled, pulling itself forward smoothly. The handle is light, the controls are intuitive, and it’s simply enjoyable to use.

Would I buy it at full price? Honestly, probably only on sale. But would I recommend it to someone who wants a genuinely smart, low-maintenance hard-floor cleaner? Absolutely. For me, it replaced both my old stick vacuum and steam mop—and it’s now the first thing I grab when muddy paws hit my tile floors.
