And it only purifies 1 gallon of water in about 6 hours, which isn’t the speediest of all the water distillers we tested (though it’s more than enough for most people’s needs). But where it does stand out is in its UL-certified features. Certification from UL (Underwriter Laboratories, a third-party safety certification company) matters a lot for this type of product, both for safety and health reasons, yet surprisingly few water distillers are UL certified. That kind of peace of mind can’t be beat.
The unit’s construction consists of a carafe made of food-grade glass, a stainless steel chamber, and condensing coils. The carafe is easy to access and clean, and no plastic components ever come in touch with the water. The quality of all the components felt top-notch, and assembling them was much easier than we expected.

This distiller was also the only one we tested with a silicone seal between the carafe’s lid and body, which ensures a tight fit during storage and pouring. All in all, the Megahome water distiller’s quality is a grade above the rest, and though it isn’t the fastest in action, its safety and health features set it apart from much of the competition.
