I never really thought of myself as a fan person until I tested the Shark TurboBlade, a bladeless tower fan that’s quiet, powerful, and stylish enough to leave out when guests come over. After trying it out in my home for a month, I found myself reaching for its remote control whenever I wanted a little cooling comfort.
SharkNinja Delivers on Design
SharkNinja has earned a reputation for designing smart, stylish home appliances that punch well above their weight, and the TurboBlade is no exception. I’m always amazed by what that company comes up with next, and this bladeless fan easily ranks right up there with their most impressive creations.
Simple Setup and Solid Performance
At nearly 15 pounds, the TurboBlade is slightly on the heavy side for a standard fan, but its weight makes it solid and keeps it grounded during operation. Thanks to Shark’s very clear illustrations and labeled parts, it took less than 5 minutes to assemble the tower fan.
Once assembled, running the TurboBlade was surprisingly intuitive. I could rotate its two slender, bladeless “arms” into either a horizontal or vertical position, giving me total control over airflow direction. On the ends of each arm are pivoting louvers that tilt up and down independently, so I could direct the breeze to a single spot or spread it across a wider area.
The TurboBlade also oscillates 180 degrees. Just be careful when oscillating in the horizontal position; it needs plenty of clearance to avoid bumping into nearby furniture. I preferred the vertical setup for oscillating airflow. When the blades were up and down, the fan delivered a tall swath of cooling air that kept me comfortable whether I was sitting, standing, or stretching out on the sofa. I didn’t even hear it running on the lowest two speeds, but I still felt a cooling breeze.
Is The Shark TurboBlade the Right Fan for You?
There’s no question that the TurboBlade is a sleek, powerful fan that looks great in any room. However, it does come at a premium price. At $249.99, it’s definitely a splurge compared to standard room fans. But after a month of use, I’m sold on its performance and aesthetics.
If I could change just one thing, it would be the low placement of the power button on the fan’s base; it requires bending or crouching to access. Fortunately, all functions are fully accessible from the included remote, which securely attaches to the fan’s top via a strong magnet.
If you’re searching for a fan that looks like it stepped out of the pages of an interior design magazine—and also works flawlessly—the TurboBlade might just be worth the investment.
