Project: Tile Layout

Bob shows the beach house to interior designer Robyn Peterson, who takes Bob shopping for fabrics. She suggests natural materials and earthy colors, as well as historic reproduction fabrics.

Bob travels to Tecate, Mexico to meet tilemaker Javier Ramirez. Javier shows Bob the different kinds of clay common to the Baja region of Mexico, and demonstrates how the clay is used in different types of handmade and painted tiles.

Bob visits with plaster sub-contractor Mike Bennet, who is floating mortar bed walls in the shower space of the beach house bathroom.
