I am a home repair nightmare - but I try. Our self-cleaning oven was interrupted in its cycle and now the door will not open. I've been upside down in the burner holes to 'see' the problem and the mechanism that springs the unluck of the door - a safety feature - won't allow the lock to swing clear - so the door won't open. We unplugged it to reset it. We've tried to undo the damage by self-cleaning through the entire cycle hoping it would spring the lock like normal. Wrong! Can't force it. can't take the top off to get at the mechanism as the screws to remove the top are 'under' the top of the locked door.

We're cooking our chicken in the sun - it's taking too long!

Any pointers? Guessing it's a bad solenoid - but not even sure how to get at it or fix it. We just want a trick to unlock the door without bending the hell out of the safety latch. THANKS! - Range Rover

Hi,

**can't take the top off to get at the mechanism as the screws to remove the top are 'under' the top of the locked door**

The lock for yours should be at the back middle, behind the back access panal.

**Guessing it's a bad solenoid**

Very possible.
