I have a small problem with my fluidmaster 400a. Once the toilet is flushed, the water does not refill the toilet via the refill tube.
After flushing, small amounts of water spray from the top. It takes a very long time for the tank to refill.
I have tried flushing whatever sand or sediment may be there by lifting the arm, doing a 1/8 counter-clockwise turn and turning the water source on and off.
After this process, the refill tube works, filling the tank the expected way, but only once.
Once the tank is full and the water shuts off, if the toilet is flushed again, the problem re-appears where the refill tube supplies no water to the tank. Water trickles out of the top.
Is this a problem that can be fixed? Or does the 400A Fluidmaster need to be replaced?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

take that cap off as you would to flush out the sediment.
now see that black rubber seal in the cap? replace it.
it has a small tear in it.

It is far better to have a gun and never need it THEN need a gun and not have one

I have what might be the same problem or something very similar, aftter I flush the toilet it fills regularly but it sounds like it is running but for longest time I could see no water, but by chance I took the lid off today and noticed the bottom of the tank lid was wet so i put my hand over the fluidmaster and tada there is a tiny fine mist that comes out the top? Any ideas do i just replce that washer to fix this?
