Just an FYI to all of you out there...Ralph Lauren's Interior Matte paint, which was a truly flat paint, is being replaced by "Interior Matte (Exceptional Quality)". It is noticeably shinier, and has quite a strong chemical smell.

Many of you will probably not mind the difference, and maybe it is more durable -- but for those of us with less-than-perfect walls that need a truly flat paint, it's not acceptable. In some lighting situations, the difference between the old & new formulation is EXTREMELY dramatic.

So...beware if you are trying to match Ralph Lauren paint you've bought previously. Might have to call around to various Home Depots to see if they carry the old formulation?

Home Depot won't refund our money, but fortunately it was "only" a couple of gallons and a few hours of painting. :-(

196 lifetime posts are correct the product switched to 100% Acrylic binder (it had been a blended Acrylic previously)...and the sheens of ALL the products have increased slightly. They will wash and scrub better than in the past. The trade-off - as you mentioned - is that they will tend to show more defects than in the past.

It might interest you to know that the new sheens of RL Paint are very similar to those of BM Regal, and P&L Accolade (RL's main competitors)...
