I'm painting the bedrooms in my 1970 ranch house, and am having trouble with large areas of paint bubbling and peeling from the ceilings as soon as the paint dries. It even takes the paper off the drywall. I spackled the areas and repainted, but the paint is now bubbling and peeling off the repainted areas. As far as I know, we don't have any water problems in the attic. This didn't happen when we painted the livingroom or bathroom. So far it's only in the bedrooms. Help?

Time for a trip up to the attic -- no way around it. Make sure there isn't anything coming through (water) that'll cause the paint to peel. Depending on what part of the country you live in, you may have plumbing or heating/cooling ducts in the attic that may be have condensation.
Once you've checked the attic, you'll need to remove the loose paint then use a high-quality primer (Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams make good primers, along with Zinsser). Coat over that will ceiling paint and you'll be done!
