Home warranty company American Home Shield has a great deal just in time for the spring season: 50 percent off some of its top-of-the-line home warranty plans.
American Home Shield is one of the best home warranty companies, offering comprehensive and well-rounded appliance and systems coverage. The company offers three plans to current homeowners (home buyers and sellers can also take advantage of one of these plans with a few amendments to the coverage terms):
- ShieldSilver is AHS’s basic coverage plan focused on home systems such as heating and cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- ShieldGold covers the same systems as AHS’s basic plan but adds coverage for kitchen and laundry appliances. It also offers up to $3,000 for repair or replacement per appliance.
- ShieldPlatinum is the most comprehensive of the three plans: it covers everything included in the ShieldSilver and ShieldGold plans and adds roof-leak protection (which would otherwise need to be purchased as an add-on) a free annual HVAC tune-up, and unlimited AC refrigerant refills. This policy can also provide up to $1,000 per year to bring home systems up to code, and offers up to $6,000 per appliance for repair or replacement.
Unlike homeowners insurance, home warranties aren’t typically required—but homeowners often find them to be worth it in the long term. Policies cover or partially cover the cost of repair or replacement in the event of a disastrous system or appliance failure, providing a valuable financial safety net for customers.
