About
Lauren Landers is an active Master Gardener volunteer and professional writer and editor with over a decade of writing experience. Based out of Bangor, Maine, Lauren is particularly passionate about nature, gardening, and sustainability-related topics including wildlife and pollinator gardening, native plants, habitat building, edible gardening, small-space gardening, organic gardening, soil building, DIY, houseplants, homesteading, and food preservation.
Experience
Lauren always loved nature and plants, but she was bitten by the gardening bug when she purchased her first homestead and began an extensive home and garden renovation. After spending a few years gaining hands-on experience in organic gardening and DIY, Lauren attended a Master Gardener program, started her own gardening and sustainability website, and launched her freelance writing career in earnest.
She has been a contributing writer or expert for a number of publications, including Better Homes & Gardens, Reader’s Digest, Bangor Daily News, and Architectural Digest. Aside from writing, Lauren also leads hands-on workshops and lectures on pollinators, native plant gardening, and other related topics. She also volunteers at conservation organizations including the Frenchman Bay Conservancy and the Trenton Butterfly Garden.
In earlier roles, Lauren worked as a librarian and as a cataloger and appraiser at an antique auction house. She also served as the editor for a local arts magazine.
Education
Lauren graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Endicott College and was awarded the Senior Thesis Award for the School of Arts and Humanities. In 2023, Lauren completed the Master Gardener volunteer program through the University of Maine and spent the majority of her volunteer hours working with the Native Gardens of Blue Hill.
