currently have vinyl tile in my kitchen. want to replace with ceramic tile. can i use the existing subfloor after i remove the vinyl tile?

Thanks for your question,
After you remove the existing vinyl check the subfloor for bows, squeaks or signs of moisture damage, I would recommend the subfloor to be at least 3/4 thick plywood or osb.
You will then need to install cement board with the proper fasteners, then your thin set and tile.
I would also recommend that if the new finished floor height will be higher then the old you check for any trim, thresholds or other potential conflicts with the new higher floor.
