Woodpeckers are pecking at corners and door frames of house. House is cedar, stained this summer. Corners & frames cedar, stained four years ago. How do we stop the woodpeckers from pecking other than shooting?
House 18 years old, this never happened before this year.

Narf, sounds like you had better call for a termite inspection of you're house. If the problem is as severe as you describe, then the woodpeckers are pecking at a food source and since we're talking wood, then termites just automatically come to mind. Good luck!

You may also have, in your home, the woodpecker's favorite meal, the carpenter bee.

Wick & TomR. Thanks for your replies. I am checking to see if we have termites and carpenter bees in Ontario, Canada. Will let you know what I find out.

I don't know if it will work with your birds, but when we had problems with pigeons
we put up a plastic owl that scared them off. You just have to move it every week or so. Believe it or not it really worked!
Good Luck!
