refinishing a rustic concrete floor
We purchased a country home built with the foundation serving as the floor of the entire house. At first, I thought the floor was interesting and unique. (The builders placed 2" river rocks, horseshoes, and railroad spikes in the concrete.) Now I find that the floor is difficult to keep clean, and I am not liking the dullness the floor imparts to the house. I would like to put slate tile over the concrete, but the whole floor is very uneven. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be done? Could concrete be applied on top of the existing floor? Thanks for any ideas.
I'm looking into the same problem. There are some YouTube videos on using a "Floor Leveling" compound that you mix in a bucket then spread on the floor. The issue with this that I haven't had answered is will it stick to a painted floor.
