Hi there-

I have a ceiling fan that after running on 5-10 minutes, starts making a terrible noise. I'm hoping that there's something I can put some 3-in-1 oil on something and keep the noise from happening. If not, then I guess I'll need to get a new one. I don't know if it matters, but it's probably about 15 years old, has 4 fins, and has a wallmount fan control.

Thanks,

Chris

All ceiling fans that I know of do not have a place for lubrucation. The bearings are sealed. If the fan is not right at the ceiling, can you verify that the noise is in the motor and not the mount?
After the noise starts, does the motor get hot?
Chances are it's time to replace but it wouldn't hurt to be sure it's the fan motor that's the culprit.
