Snow sits on my redwood deck for 4-5 months of the year. Is it wise to cover the boards with a PVC tarpaulin to protect it from snow? What are the alternatives, if any?

cheers, and thanks for your advice!

Redwood is durable wood. It can handle snow. An alternative is to shovel it off.

I wouldn't cover it, just let it breath.

I would not cover it with a tarpaulin. It will hold any water against the deck instead of letting it dry out.
