I want to install a chain link fence in my backyard. Problem is there is a mound septic system smack dab in the middle of where I want to run the fence. I want to put it on 1/5 of the mound itself, unfortunately on the side that leads to the tanks. Is there a chance I will compromise the integrity of the system if I place the line posts over it? I have tried to contact the installer to no avail and want to finish this project before the snow flies. Any advice or warning would help immensely. The posts would go down at most 2 ft.

I am not a septic tank installer, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express if you know what I mean. If this is your onlychoice I would go ahead and do it. The only thing I would do is dig with a shovel or post hole diggers VERY slowly. I can't see why this would harm your septic system. Hopefully there is 2 ft of dirt on top of your septic system anyway. Maybe a septic guy will put his 2 cents in also. Once again if you do this, please dig slowly.
