Hi,

Model # is JGBP34GEP2WH

Serial VG216555P

Really old model. Not sure how old as it was here when we bought the house. Just last week, the oven seemed to stop working. Top rings work. Broiler works. When I but the oven on and set the temperature, after a couple of seconds it goes back to 100 degrees and there is also another symbol that I can hardly make out. Looks like O over an N in a box. Does this mean the igniter is gone? Where is the best place to look for this part and how easy would it be to install? Thank you in advance for your response.

Hi,

** When I but the oven on and set the temperature, after a couple of seconds it goes back to 100 degrees **

It is likely just displaying the current oven temperature (or the minimum temp. the control can display).

** there is also another symbol that I can hardly make out. Looks like O over an N in a box. **

Probably indicating the oven (the box) is turned ON.

** Does this mean the igniter is gone? **

A failed ignitor will not cause any change in display. The oven will just not heat.

If the oven is not heating you can read about possibilities and additional observations/tests that will be needed to determine the problem at the following link.

I don't know about the "best" place but a reliable place to get replacement parts for your appliances online if needed is at the following link:

** and how easy would it be to install? **

Replacing an oven ignitor is not usually very difficult... provided its mounting screws are easily accessible, not rusted in place and their heads not stripped.

The GE XL44 oven that I am using did not come with a door latch. Should I still be able to use the self clean feature, and at what temperature should I clean the oven?
