I have a Bammer CDA250 and I need to know where I can buy fuel cells. I've tracked every google hit for the last hour and none of them have it in stock. Did PC discontinue the Bammer and/or fuel cell? Has anyone else struck out at their local stores? I got a blank look at Home Depot.

Thanks.

The bammer has problems, but I don't know the details of them.

I has been discontinued. I think only a couple of years after it was introduced.

You might be able to order if online.

Or check with the local service center.

If not you might try ebay and see if anyone is selling old stock.

Hi Bob,

I have a couple of these & am very happy with them with the exception of the shortage in fuel cells since PC discontinued them. I noticed that you mentioned that you had tried other fuel cells. I have tried to fit a paslode fuel cell into mine, even went to the extreme of machining an adaptor to get the paslode fuel cell to fit & still no luck. What other fuel cells have you found that operate in the Bammer?

Thanks,

Silas

Try www.alexgs.com, Alexandria General Supply. They sell 12-packs, don't know about individual cells.

Good Luck

Thanks for the reply on the availability of the Bammer fuel cells. What I was really trying to find was someone who had managed to get a Paslode fuel cell to work in the Bammer since they are available just about anywhere and are not 10 years old. I made an adaptor to fit between my Bammer and a Paslode Yellow fuel cell, but the Bammer will not fire. Don't know if it is the type of gas in the yellow cells, or a problem with the adaptor. The adaptor allows the Bammer regulator to pressurize, but the gun will not fire with it. Anyone have any ideas?

I hope you got things worked out with your Bammer. If not, and you plan on getting a new nail gun, would you be interested in selling your leftover fuel cells? I only have a partial cell left and can't seem to find anyone left who carries them since the model is discontinued. Thanks.

Hi,

I have a CDA250 that is working fine, but need 1 or 2 fuel cells to finish a couple projects. After that I would consider letting it go if you are still in the market.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my earlier post about the half dozen Bammer fuel cells we were willing to sell. We have since discovered that these things are seemingly impossible to ship (at least without special certification and a hazardous materials contract with a shipping company). So it seems our only option is to sell them locally.

We live in the western suburbs of Boston. If anyone who is interesting in acquiring these fuel cells lives close enough to arrange a hand-to-hand exchange, let us know.

Hi,

Yes, the fuel cells are still available. In fact, my husband has since found three more that he had tucked away.

$100 will get you all of them.

I understand that the Post Office has shipping restrictions. Can these fuel cells just be shipped by UPS ground?

No. Tried that. UPS won't ship unless you have a certification for shipping hazardous materials.

Interesting. I suppose other people just ship them and do not declare what is in the box. I know I bought 2 bammers on E-bay and they both arrived by UPS in their plastic cases with several fuel cells inside. Nice tool. too bad PC does not support them anymore. Has anyone come up with an alternative fuel cell source or a way to refill the old cells?

I did a search on the net and found a forum that discusses refilling the bammer fuel cell from a propane bottle with an airsoft propane adapter.....

http://www.diychatroom.com/f29/bammer-nailer-fuel-cell-replacement-35778/

I think it's worth a try.

I am a member of the DIY chatroom and I have been watching this thread. There have been 2 people who tried to refill a bammer cell with propane. One was successful, the other was not. I have been trying to find out exactly what the successful person did. Still waiting

It's my lucky day I just located 27 fuel cells at my local hardware I got an incredible deal on the lot. I do own 2 straight and one angle bammer but I would buy more fuel cells if I could find them.

I created a youtube video on how I refill the bammer fuel cell with propane using an air soft green gas propane adapter. Tip: make sure to silicone lube the inlet of the bammer fuel to help prevent o-ring damage. Your mileage may vary. Use this information at your own risk. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HXPHoB6RMM

I see the Utube video posted on refilling the bammer. I ran across an article about the bammer on another website (DIY I believe) where they were talking about an article written on the bammer when it first came out, where they stated that it ran om Mapp gas. Is your bammer getting enough fire power to drive 2.5 inch nails with the propane? And by the way, thanks for the video, I have been on a waiting list for a propane adaptor for about 4 months with no luck. Looking for the $6.99 metal version from Cheaper than Dirt, which has been out of stock. Not interested in the plastic.

I have been following the DIY thread as well. However, I went to the Alexgs.com site to order the adapter and they say they are out of stock. Does anyone know if this is a permanent situation or if there is anyone else offering an adaptor.

also I read the thread above about the paslode adaptor. Has anyone made this work and is there anything on the market in the form of an adaptor?

Sorry this is longwinded. I own three Bammer cms200s that I use in my fireworks business, and needless to say I am out of fuel cells. I tried to refill some and failed miserably. Don't bother trying this unless you can pull a vacuum on the cell before trying to fill it. The Utube video is useless he can only get a couple of grams of propane in the cell because the pessure of the gas in the cell is equal to the liquid propane pressure in the propane bottle.

I removed the rgulator from one of my bammers, adapted a regulator to a propane bottle. If i set the regulator on the propane bottle to 16PSI and feed the Bammer with a 5/32 OD polyurethane tube the bammer fires perfectly. I put a belt clip on the propane bottle so I can keep it handy. I know this is a lot of work but it saved me from throwing away 3 bammers.

The issue of pulling a vacuum on the empty fuel cell before trying to fill it makes a lot of sense & explains my cold fingers. I would love to see the specifics as to how you adapted a propane bottle and regulator to your bammer(S). I have 2 of them I would like to be able to continue using. If you have pictures, tips, parts, anything that will help me duplicate your idea it would be greatly appreciated. Please drop me a line at silasfsmith@yahoo.com

Thanks

The tool to reload cells can be found at

http://www.shortyusa.com/airsoft.html?http://www.shortyusa.com/cart/viewitem.html?II=1501&UID=1287704250-76.120.42.81&CA=&RID=

Porter Cable uses Mapp gas. I did get propane to work but after 15 or so firings it stopped and would not work even with a non reloaded cell. I suspect it somehow got moisture in the chamber and itwould not spark. I let it dry out for a day and it started working.

The trick to loading is to heat the empty in hot water and use the tool to evacuate all the gas then freeze empty in the freezer. The process causes a vacuum in the empty.

I held the mapp gas bottle and the empty against my chest and rocked it allowing some gas to escape as the liquid entered the empty. This process does work.

Am I the only one who is ****ed of at PC for discontinuing support? They need to step-up and make this right. Allow third parties the right to mfg.the patented cells or exchange the nailer for one that is supported.

Shame on Porter Cable.
