I am a student at BYU. For a heat transfer class we were asked to come up with ideas on how to reduce heat loss in a brick home. I suggested that the brick be covered with a foam, sheet type insulation and then covered with hardwood siding. It effectively reduced the heat loss, but my teacher said that the solution was infeasible. He thought that there is no way to attach insulation to the brick and then siding to the insulation. I have seen it done on one of the many home improvement TV shows, but I need more proof. Could someone please back me up? Thank you.
