I am looking for the best way to match woodfiller to the color of my newly installed oak casing. The casing has no stain only semi gloss uerthane finish. I have tried several blend fill pencils and other puddy but can't seem to find a good match. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks in Advance,

One way I use is to buy several colors of putty and blend them together 'til I achieve a good match.

Another is to mix oak sawdust with a latex wood filler. This works as long as you use it the same day. If you mix it and try to store it it may turn color.

If all you have is a clear on natural oak you should be able to go to any store and get either light oak,or light birch nail hole putty.I use this in all my homes, but I put in after the 1st coat then put the top coat on it.
But it should still match up pretty darn close.

what you seek does not exist. if you are extremely lucky enough to get a good match initially, chances are over time it will begin to show because it will age differenly than the surrounding natural wood. your best bet is the colored pens after you finish your project.
