We moved into our home 4 years ago. About 4 months later a awful smell came out of the air conditioning vent in guest bathroom. {Happened first time about 4 hours after guest used shower over tub. Lasted about 20 minutes and them smell was gone, but kept returning every so often. Then we notice black what we thought was mold. Cleaned all the vents and this seemed to help for a period of time. Electriction came out and put new duct work to bathoom. The smell started coming back again and the air duct is clean. The shower was used again at his time.

Upon examing the works in the attic I find that water is leaking through the roof down the vent line. It has gotten a small amount of the insulation wet and a small area of the drywall. The water does not show in the ceilings of the rooms below the leak. Could this be the problem by water during previous rain periods seeping down the pipe into the walls?
