I have central A/C, one zone system, in my TH that I moved in 8 months ago. The main thermostat, programmable 5-2, which I installed it in the winter is at the first floor and I have another old one (round, manual) at the second floor (which I didn't have to touch it for heating). If I turn on the one downstairs, it blows only regular air (maybe just the fan). In order for the compressor to start, I have to also manually turn on the one upstairs (set it on cool). If I leave it on, it doesn't start automatically, when the one downstairs starts. Also, if the one downstairs stops, it doesn't stop by itself, only stops if I turn it off. Do you know what do I have to do to get rid of the one upstairs and work only with the auto setting from first floor? Thanks.

Then, how can I have the thermostat upstairs to start and stop automatically. Now, the only way the A/C (compressor) kicks in is manually (set it upstairs on cool, doesn't matter the temperature setting) and have the one downstairs on cool also and running. The only way to stop it, is to turn it completely off (doesn't matter anything else, it's own temperature setting, or any setting of the one downstairs)! I have to stay home to start/stop the A/C.

Thanks very much.
