I have been reading the posts on Trex and the problems including mold and mildew and sagging. We built our deck about 4 years ago with Choice Dek (sold by Lowe's) and have experienced the same problem. The decking has black mold and mildew spots and is beginning to sag in the middle. We've tried lots of solutions and it temporarily cleans it up, but within a week, it's back. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem.

We spent 13,000 on a deck less than a year ago and it is a mildew mess. Nothing cleans it up. I can't believe people are still buying this product. Not sure where to turn for satisfaction. I see a lot of posts for other products with similar problems. Not sure if its just a bad batch or what. Mine was dated DEC 05
I'M sure it wasn't a bad batch - it appears all the composite decking materials have the same problem. Ours has mildewed and warped and is less than 4 years old and looks a mess.

Nice to know something is being done. Wonder how you get in on the class action settlement? Thanks for the update.

i use choice decking in my dock business and it lightens up quickly
My clients like the lighter look for the coolness on there feet(beach house grey)
If you do leave a object in 1 place before it fades it does show up.
relocate the object in a couple of weeks it matches.
i have been using the choice decking at the beach for years
have not run into the mold issue.

I used it on my dock, for the deck and fence. I need to find the beach house gray 2 x 4's, need 8 and cannot locate. Lowes still has them on their web site, but when I order (tried twice) it is cancelled by them.
Can anyone help fjd6@verizon.net

We have had our choice dek cleaned professionally every 1 to 2 years. However our "guaranteed decking" (I swear it was 30 years) Has now broken through on two boards that just snapped in half. There is another section that is "wobbly" and I fear same will happen. Anyone know if we can get $$ from them for replacement board? We never knew about this class action suit. We ordered a terracotta color that bleached out to beach gray in 2 years...we just sighed and let it go. luckily I still have the original 2004 ash register receipt. Anyone know who I can approach with this to get things fixed? Thanks for any help. dittusjudy@gmail
