Building new house and applying cedar siding. I am confused by recommendations of different painters:
1) Good cedar siding only requires a oil based sealer.
2) Good cedar siding requires an oil based primer and oil based stain - even if natural color.
3) Cedar siding requires primer and two coats of latex?
What are the pros and cons of these techniques

Our local lumber yard pre primes a lot of cedar...they use a good quality latex stain blocker and then people can finish with 1 or 2 coats of latex finish. They say that even that does not gaurantee that the natural oils will not work themselves up to the surface

Our lumber yard offered to do this also but every painter I've talked to says that latex not optimal for cedar - and this method often leads to "bleed thru".
