My walls are all plaster and have been damaged by a roof leak. The leak has been fixed, but now I'm wondering how to repair the wall myself. It looks easy enough, but I don't know where to start. I'm a first-timer. Can I just scrape & sand & fill? What products should I use? It's in the bathroom, I assume I will need a special paint for such a high moisture room. Any recommedations are greatly appreciated. thanks.

Without seeing what you're talking about, start where the damage is and go from there. You can use drywall compound and if more severe you may have to "patch" with some drywall. There are some moisture resistant paints out there but if you have adequate ventilation (ie exhaust fan) regular paint primed properly should be just fine. If you don't have adequate ventilation moisture resistant paint won't due alot of good anyways.
