I have a lot of restoration work to be done on a 1860 something house that the owner wants to put back into original condition and needs details around doors and fireplaces replaced. I thought that I could make mine out of plaster. The original were made of wood and I fine it almost impossible to replace. If someone had an idea of the process to make my own molds it would be great.

Have you checked with an architectural woodwork shop to see if they can reproduce it? I recently restored a 168-year-old church and had some of the interior moldings reproduced at a local shop. If you have pictures and/or samples of the woodwork to be replaced and can’t find anyone local to do the work, contact me and I will give their name and address.
