I am having my roof replaced due to hail damage. The roofer is suggesting to put in ridge vents vs the turbines that are on the existing roof. The theory is that it will vent better and have possible energy efficient effect.
Other folks are telling me it doesn't make a difference.
Any thoughts?

When I reroofed my home it had no vents. The concensus I found was that the ridge vent do vent more air generally because they offer more vent area than what you would normally expect with turbines. One should also take in consideration, the amount of intake venting. If you have very little gable or soffit venting, increasing your exhuast venting may do very little. If your current venting system is functioning well, I wouldn't be in a hurry to change it! Just the same, adding a ridge vent is quite simple not too expensive.
