I am planning on using wood laminate flooring in a bathroom in my basement and have two questions. 1) I have a few raised spots in the concrete floor, but on the whole it is pretty level. I think I can grind the high spots down; what should I use to accomplish this? 2) Does the laminate floating floor need to be completely floating? Can I put it down before I set the commode, or do I need to set the commode before I lay the flooring?

Lay the flooring first. It'll be much easier to lay the flooring, leaving a hole for the drain than to install the commode and then try to perfectly fit the flooring to it.
