I was removing the carpet in my new apartment when I came upon a RED "padding" like material underneath. In some spots(by the window) it was moist and came up easy( but broke apart) and in other spots it is hard to get up. It is stuck to the floor, I can get it up but I don't want to scratch the wood floor underneath. Does anyone know if this is padding and how I can get this up? Is there a solution I can spray on it? Beacuse where it is moist comes up great and really made the wood floors look great almost like a protectant? Thank you.

carpet pad comes in many differant types, rebond, felt, jute ,rubber,ect.ect.the only one i know of that might be red is felt pad, with a rubber top.the fact that it's wet seems strange, plus a wet pad should have ruined the hardwood under the pad.all i can think of is pull up what you can and try some minerial spirits to get off the rest. good luck
