Hello there, quick question. Can I use tar paper to line the walls and the floor of a shower stall that I'm building?

I'm going to be using a pvc liner over the tar paper for the floor, and cement board on the walls.

Some people say to use the tarpaper as an additinal water barrier, and others say not to, as it could hold mould.

What's everyone's thoughts on this?

4 mil plastic drop cloth on the walls would be easier to work with IMO. Check with the liner Mfgr to see what they think should be under it, I think they'll say no need for tarpaper.

The cement board is inorganic so it wont produce any food for mold to grow. I doubt theres anything organic in the tarpaper
