We have masonite siding on our home that was built in the 70's. Needless to say there are areas that have swollen up and are rotting. Should we replace these boards with the same masonite siding or a different material. I know there is a lawsuit for this masonite siding but it only incorporates 1980- 1998, and our house was built in the late 70's

I too have masonite siding. The house was built in 1963 and expanded in 1986.

I have replaced a couple sections myself on the original house.

I now have a few areas that require work on the new section.

The shade sides of the house are almost like new after 42 years....believe it or not.

The newer section is deteriating due to the sun, improper nails being used but contractor and shrubs damage on lower section.

If I were to consider replacing it, I would go with a vinyl. Otherwise you almost have to use the same siding to appearance. If installed properly it should hold up.
