we built our house 6years ago.. we use propane..the boiler is a utica 199000btc.. it has its own room which is approx 20' long x 8feet high, with 10ft celing height. there are 2 holds thru the concrete into the garage area approx 12''x12'' to supply add. air. we also keep the furnace room door wide open, so it may draw air from the rest of the basement which is 3 rooms approx 50' x 30ft, with 10ft celings..
the problem is the furnace at various times shuts down.. the fan is blowing, but it does not fire up. what needs to be done is that i shut off the emer. switch, take off the front cover and reset the roll-over bottom, turn on the emer switch, and the boiler turns on and fires up. last week it went off twice. since it is a summer home, i had to drive 2 hrs there and 2 hrs back each time to reset it.
the rollout (over??) switch has been changed , i do not think that is the problem.
i have called utica and the tech said it is one of two thing either not enough air, or too much fuel. he thought mayb e not enough air, but with the door open, holes into the garage, i beleive that is not the problem. the local tech did lower the fuel pressure last week, and so far (knock on wood) it has functioned properly.
the unit is vented to the outside, under a wide open deck... nothing hindering the exhuast..
has anyone encountered a similar problem, or have any thoughts??..
this problem has happened evry winter since we have built the house, usually once, but this winter 3 times...so far.
