I’ve been testing Blueair’s brand-new Blue Signature air purifier for nearly a month now, and I can honestly say it’s one of the most impressive purifiers I’ve ever had in my home. While it’s a fairly large unit, it’s surprisingly lightweight at just over 13 pounds, and thanks to its minimalist Scandinavian design, it doesn’t stick out like an appliance. In fact, you’d be forgiven for mistaking it for a modern side table. The flat top surface even makes it usable as a table, which is a nice bonus if you’re tight on space.

But it’s not just a pretty face. The interface is cleverly hidden—completely invisible until you wave your hand over the top, which activates a slick LED screen that shows your current air quality rating, filter status, and control buttons. I mostly keep mine on Auto mode, and it’s been spot-on at detecting changes in air quality, especially when I’m cooking. You can hear it quietly ramp up the fan speed in response, and the subtle LED indicator on the top gives you a quick read on how things are going.

For those who like digging into the numbers, the Blueair app gives you access to more detailed data, including real-time PM1, PM2.5, and PM10 readings and a history graph to help spot trends in your home’s air. You can also control all the usual settings from the app, including Night Mode, which dims everything so that you can sleep distraction-free.

One standout feature I really appreciate is AirSense. When it’s turned on, the unit automatically runs short cleaning cycles every day at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., just to give your air a little refresh. It’s subtle but smart—a great example of the hands-off functionality that makes this unit so easy to live with.
Performance-wise, it’s got the numbers to back it up: a CADR of 450 CFM (cubic feet per minute) for pollen, 434 CFM for dust, and 455 CFM for smoke, making it well-suited for large spaces up to 705 square feet. With 7 stages of filtration, including Blueair’s HEPASilent™ technology, it captures at least 99.97% of airborne pollutants down to 0.1 microns.
The filter system itself is great—one large, accordion-style filter that wraps around the interior. It’s easy to replace (Blueair says it lasts up to a year), and the unit will alert you when it’s time, either via the built-in screen or the app. Replacement filters are around $100.

Now, let’s talk about what really sold me: the design. The outer cloth pre-filter is swappable, and it’s available in six different colors, which means you can actually match this thing to your decor (a rarity in the air purifier world). At $25 a pop, they’re not outrageously expensive. (I’ll definitely be picking up a couple more.) Blueair also offers upscale accessories—such as a chrome ring base or wooden legs—to elevate the unit even further. I didn’t test these, and while they look great, the price tag ($100 and $80, respectively) feels a little steep to me.

That brings me to the unit’s price: around $400, which is definitely higher than many competing purifiers on the market. But in my experience, most of those lack the advanced features, premium build quality, and thoughtful design that the Blue Signature offers. You’re paying more, yes—but you’re getting a lot more, too. If you’re looking for something that combines design, power, and effortless functionality, this one is definitely worth considering—especially if you care just as much about how your home looks as how it feels.
