When a snowstorm blanketed my yard with 8 inches of fresh powder, I got the chance to try out the Ego Power+ 21-Inch Battery Snow Blower (SNT2102) in a real-world winter scenario. This cordless unit uses Ego’s trademarked Peak Power system with two 56-volt batteries and delivers gas-comparable performance without excessive noise, fumes, or cord hassles.

How Easy Is It to Set Up and Start?

Assembly on this Ego snow blower was minimal—just a few fasteners needed to be tightened with the included Allen wrench. The batteries also needed to be charged. Charging the two batteries one at a time took less than 45 minutes in total. Once fully charged and inserted in the machine, starting was a two-step motion: I held down the button centered on the handle, then pulled back the safety bar. It fired up instantly.

This ease of use matters when you’re outside with cold hands and lots of snow waiting to be cleared. There’s no choke, no pull cord, and no fumes—it doesn’t get much more user-friendly than that. The onboard chute control allowed me to redirect snow up to 180 degrees, which came in handy for aiming snow well outside my courtyard walls.

Does It Really Move Snow Effectively?

This snow blower isn’t self-propelled, so it requires a slightly different pushing cadence than larger gas or two-stage models, but I didn’t find that to be a problem. With a 21-inch clearing width and a high-efficiency brushless motor, the auger chewed through snow consistently when I paced the machine correctly (don’t push too fast). It threw snow an estimated 30-plus feet, easily clearing snow over my wall and well away from high-traffic areas.

Best of all, the operation was significantly quieter than any gas blower I’ve used, and if you have neighbors, they’ll appreciate that. I cleared a three-car driveway, about 200 linear feet of sidewalk, and a large enclosed patio, all in just over an hour. The batteries still had a 30-percent charge when I finished. But keep in mind that the depth, texture, and weight of the snow will affect the speed and runtime.

Who Is This Snow Blower Best For?

The Ego Power+ 21-inch battery snow blower is ideal for homeowners with mid-sized driveways and sidewalks who want gas performance in a more environmentally friendly cordless format. It’s particularly appealing if you’re clearing 6 to 10 inches of snow in one session and prefer less noise, zero fumes, and minimal fuss. It’s also attractive to folks who already use Ego’s 56V battery ecosystem, since those batteries work across tools.

If speed is a priority—for example, if you need to clear a very large property fast or you’re handling very deep, heavy, wet snow regularly—a self-propelled or two-stage gas model would clears nowfaster and with less effort. But for most residential snow-removal tasks, the balance of performance, ease of use, and battery runtime here is excellent.

The Ego Power+ SNT2102 Snow Blower currently sells for about $649, which is hundreds less than wider-swath and self-propelled models. For my purposes, it’s the right machine at the right price.

In real-world testing during an 8-inch snowfall, the blower easily cleared snow from a three-car driveway, long stretches of sidewalk, and a concrete patio on a single charge and with power to spare. While it isn’t self-propelled, we found that by maintaining a steady pace (not pushing aggressively), the auger chewed through snow and tossed it about 30 feet. Its quiet operation is a major advantage, especially in residential areas.

This model is best suited for paved surfaces and typical residential snowfalls. Those dealing with gravel driveways or very heavy, wet snow may need a two-stage or self-propelled model.
