Currently priced at $140, the Skil is a 360-degree self-leveling laser that includes a tripod and plenty of features, such as vertical and horizontal lasers. It also steadies quickly, as we witnessed ourselves when we tested it.
Most of the laser levels we tested fall in the $300 to $450 price range, and we honestly didn’t feel we were missing out on much by using the comparatively inexpensive Skil—at least not for the types of projects we’d most likely use it for.
What we liked most about the Skil was how simple it was to set up and use. Also, its tripod was one of the only models in our test group that allowed us to position the laser at a fixed angle. After testing, our overall impression was that the Skil is well built, a breeze to use, and probably cheaper than it should be.
In short, it’s a great option for moderate-duty use. Professionals who need something more rugged and high-tech might want to dish out the extra cash for a premium level, but for most people, the Skil LL932201 is the right pick at the right price.
