Installing a Brick Walkway and Porch Lighting, and Milling the Railings and Balusters

Contractors put in the brick walkway. Forester Moulding and Lumber replicates the porch railings and balusters. Also, new security and sprinkler systems are installed, and lighting is added to the porch.

Clip Summary

The new, curved front walkway, made of Boston City Hall pavers, is being laid out on an incline in a herringbone pattern. Bob talks with Lou Poalcino, who cuts the brick to size by making chalk mark and cutting with a wet saw.

The antique brass doorknobs from the front door are removed for polishing, and a new sprinkler system going in. Plus, lighting designer Marcus Early has chosen recessed lighting from Luminare.

At Forester Moulding and Lumber, Bob checks on the status of the reproduction balusters and railing being made to replace the original millwork. When they are ready to be installed back at the site, the contractors put in the new balusters and rails, and a lattice for under the rails.
