I just inherited an old Kenmore Master Flame grill, its my first grill ever. I went out and bought a propane tank, and from what i can tell it works great. But looking under the coking grid, there appears to be very worn down charcoal, its all sitting under the flames coming out of that bar. Are you supposed to put charcoal down in there? if so, how high do you put it?

Isn't that the grease tray? Could they have burned down enough that they just fell through? Some people add charcoal for a diff. flavor. You might give Kenmore a call and see if they have a manual available

yeah, some people do put charcoal down there for that "charcoal" taste.
