I am going to redo my finished basement, which is basically redoing it from scratch. I have been wanting to isolate the floor from the concrete. I don't want to add much to the height since the ceiling is < 8 feet. Has anyone floated 3/4" tongue and groove treated plywood over 6 mil plastic over the concrete. The T/Gs would be glued. My main reason is for thermal and making a humidity barrier from the carpeting. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated !

If the floor is dry, you do not need a humidity barrier for the carpet. If the floor is not dry, I wouldn't finish the basement until it is dry.

Do the moisture test. Tape a 3x3 ft plastic on the floor. After a few days check it. If its dry on the concrete side, you don't have a moisture problem.

I have an 8 pound pad under my berber and my floor is fine - not cold at all.
