Hi. I bought my current house back in May, and when we bought it, there was no access to an attic. The house was built in 1925, but was completely redone top to bottom a year and a half ago. Everything is new. The other day my plumber came over and I was showing him the house and he asked what was above the second floor stairwell. I told him there was nothing and he said it was probably attic access. We opened up the drywall, and sure enough, there is access to the attic. The wierd thing is that there are three steps, each of them about 16 high. I have pix posted here:
My question is why would the contractor block this off and provide no access anywhere to the attic? Also, would this space be usable for storage or anything?
