I read the article on your website concerning black stains on asphalt shingles. The first line in the first paragraph states "It is not mold" then the article proceeds to say that it is most likely algae. Then the third paragraph says " Of course, cleaning the roof doesn’t keep the mold from
reoccurring." Which is it, mold or algae??

it's going to be one or the other to know for sure it would have to be tested. However there are some products on the market that you can treat it with and it would go away the one I have used in the past is Wet N Forget. It may take more then one application depending on how bad the mold or algae is, but it does work. You can also apply on as a preventative treatment. Check it out for yourself
