I am currently undergoing a restoration of my home as a result of a major fire in May. My contractor has recommended Semco windows. There are 25 windows and french doors in all, some quite large. Since Semco is not a consumer brand, I have had a hard time finding reviews, either positive or negative. The usual complaint sites have complaints on virtually every other brand of window, but none for Semco. Likewise, I have found no positive reviews either. This board is really the only place I've found.

I could use some honest feedback. One user is irate, runs a picture of a window frame that is so rotten it doesn't seem possible it could have happened in just four years. Another defends Semco, but all his posts are just about this topic. Virtually all of the complaints are about windows which were installed 10-25 years ago, and some complain about the rep not the company. The most recent post alludes to a possibility that an error that was made resulting in buying the wrong windows.

I am about to make a very significant investment. I liked the look and feel of the Semco samples I saw, I like the features, and I like that they will custom make any size. And, though it is nearly impossible to find out what different windows actually cost (nobody seems to be willing to tell you without sending a salesman out, even if you just want to give a standard size for apples-to-apples comparison), the cost of the Semco windows seems pretty good.

Has anyone here purchased Semco windows in the last, say, five years? How have they performed?
