Butcher Block table company went out of business where we originally purchased our table. Unfortunately, we had a candle burn down and alight wax and a table runner, causing a center burn mark on the table. The table was also treated with a protective finish to protect from pen marks, etc. If we sand down the damage ourselves, what type of finish should we reapply? What suggestions do you have for us? thanks

Boos Blocks suggested using mineral oil. Apply in thin coats daily over a two week period to allow penetration. Make sure you use the type that is edible, I cannot remember which one off the top of my head. One type will say on the can that it may cause cancer. Becareful! Otherwise olive oil will work well too.
