I need to get the basket off my 10 year old Amana washer because there is something metal caught preventing it from spinning.

However, I see no way to remove thr agitator. When I took the cap off, underneath was a long, thin piece of plastic in the center going all the way down. The body of the agitator itself appears to fill with water.

Any ideas?
