Foundation layout software for steep building sites
I'm a general contractor as well as a cabinet maker. I just wanted to mention some software I ran accross. It's called "Steep Building Site Surveyor", and it allows one builder to single handedly layout an entire building site on steep terrain. The best part about it is you don't have to set up your batter boards level to one another, which on a steep lot means ladder work. With this program, all batter boards may be at different elevations. Also there is no trigonometry nor shooting angles with the transit involved. Just measure several clearly requested, and sketched dimensions onto the program, and it gives you eight offsets measurements, which are dimensions from the batter boards to the intersection of the building lines. Pretty cool program for only fifty something bucks! Check it out at their web site http://www.builders-digital-toolbox.com, and go to their products page, from there go to this and other hands on construction software programs, including a great cabinet cut list software program.
